America must re-focus on its water infrastructure

May 2018

We service our family vehicles with regular oil changes and routine maintenance to keep them running reliably. No one wants a leak or broken part to strand their family on the side of the road; or even worse, put their safety at risk. Older cars that haven’t been serviced regularly don’t run properly, and the cost to replace a seized engine or make major repairs often greatly exceeds the cost of doing proactive, routine maintenance over time.

The same is true for America’s water infrastructure. Although there isn’t a “maintenance required” light to serve as a reminder, our nation’s underground water infrastructure has its own vital set of scheduled maintenance needs to extend its useful life and continue delivering clean, safe water to our taps.

The nation observed National Infrastructure Week, May 14-21, putting America’s water infrastructure in the spotlight.
